Students at Lycée Les Étoiles Brillantes truly are shining stars

In 2022, the school was in TOP THREE of all Mali for students in the results of the baccalaureate exam (the secondary school leaving exam). This is the first class to graduate from Lycée Les Étoiles Brillantes (secondary level). Starting four years ago with 16 students, LLEB now has 107 students.

LLEB receives funding from the government for educating the students. In Mali, parents are required to pay for their children’s primary education. Once a student passes the exam at the end of primary school, the government pays for their secondary education. Education is treasured in Mali. Seven of the students at LLEB are from families that have only one meal a day but managed to give their children their full primary school education.

Transcendental Meditation® and TM-Sidhi® programs: Basis for success at LLEB

Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs enliven the full creative potential and inner happiness of every student and teacher, eliminate stress, and enliven the total brain. When students regularly practice the Transcendental Meditation technique, they begin to learn more easily, think more clearly and creatively, sit and focus on their schoolwork more calmly and enjoyably, and solve problems with less effort.

A few comments from students:

“TM helps me better follow and understand my lessons.”

“I pay more attention to the teachers’ explanations, which I understand very well.”

“TM does me a huge favor. I manage to memorize my lessons correctly and easily. Plus, I feel good about myself all the time.”

Consciousness-Based EducationSM

In August of 2020, the principal and a group of teachers at the school completed a 10-lesson online course introducing Consciousness-Based Education (CBE). It gave them knowledge of the basis of Maharishi's principles of teaching and learning, and of scientific research on the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program, including Yogic Flying. As a result, the teachers were very enthusiastic and ready learn more and to bring this knowledge into the classroom.

Now students and teachers want to have the TM-Sidhi program for themselves and their nation

All students and teachers are practicing TM. Now 107 students and 20 teachers are preparing to take the TM-Sidhi course. Three teachers took the TM-Sidhis course in 2018. This course is the opportunity to bring a ray of harmony into the particularly turbulent time for Mali.

Since 2012, Mali has been enduring a civil conflict involving ethnic and Islamist militant groups, Malian government forces, and international forces. Many lives have been lost in the conflict. In the UN, the peacekeeping force in Mali is considered the most dangerous assignment in the world. Mali also has been a source of incoherence for the 400 million people of West Africa.

After a traumatic decade, the people of Mali need peace and stability. Instead, recently they have endured two coups. As a result of the coups, for months their landlocked country was blockaded by their neighbors.

Donations needed to cover costs of $28,000

The course budget includes $2,700 each month April, May, and June for feeding the students (who come to morning program without breakfast and need something to eat before they start their classes). It also covers other essential items needed for the course facility and Yogic Flying rooms.
